A few weeks ago I found myself asking, "where the absolute hell has this year gone", lamenting the realities of a mostly-passed summer, mourning delaying trip plans until next year. But that was before hashtag cross is here. Immediately upon pulling into the lot, noticing the cones from afar, smelling the cold dank air...a familiar feeling rushed over me.
And so it is here. And what a cracker of an opener is was. DDCX, although I did not race (which seems to be the theme on days I prioritize photography), is absolutely fantastic: meandering through dark, peaceful woods for a large majority of the course. Some flat grassy sections are included as well, but for me the features doojore were the run-ups and descents. The course has a very Barlow-esque vibe, sharing space with baseball fields and other various public sports park edifices.
It was a pleasure to see so many friends again. DDCX, that "sh*t was lit, fam".
Stoked cross is back. Stoked on seeing people stoked. I love it. See you all on Tuesday/today for the PDX Trophy cup!
