You've gotta love short track. I do, and I don't even race it it. Never have. But as a resident of NOPO, I almost feel obliged to jump on the bike and enjoy the route through the sewage plant on the way over to PIR. It is interesting to me how short track isn't bigger; recently I've heard wailing and teeth gnashing about urban trail access, yet you present the people an opportunity to actually race their MTB's within the city limits and not many people show up. Sure, there are traffic concerns and PIR can be hard to get to for an early racing time, I get that. Not to say that the crowd at STXC is small, it isn't. It's a lowkey neighborhood-y feeling bike race, and that vibe is exactly what makes it great...I just hope it continues to grow into something even greater.
Anyway, I love shooting STXC and the light last night was ridiculous! I felt like it was cheating. Also, nice to see so many other friendly photog's out there!
Cheers until cross! It's coming! 9/3!
